Start Early in Dental research so You Can Avoid “Research Sellers” and Unethical Shortcuts

Why is it crucial to start your research early?

if you haven’t started working on a research project very early before applying to a program, you’ll likely end up dealing with “research sellers"

And this isn't just a matter of clear religious prohibition, it's also full of risks we’ve warned about before.

Be assured: today’s graduate programs can easily distinguish between a genuine author who actively contributed to the research and someone who just paid to have their name added.

In competitive research, most applicants receive research points, but the real difference shows up during the interview.

Almost every graduate program now includes interviews.

And that’s where the line is drawn between someone who contributed meaningfully and someone who simply paid to be listed.

Working on a strong, competitive research project with actual contribution takes time.

That’s a fact no one disagrees on. Ask any mentor or senior researcher, and they’ll tell you: every step in the research process takes time and patience.

A properly built, competitive research project doesn’t get done in a month.

Honestly, it simply doesn’t.

Any project that is done in a month is either a “ready-made title” or one where “you pay and your name gets added.”

From our experience over the years, many of those who delay research till the last minute end up compromising and turning to research sellers.

At that point, unfortunately, it’s not only a religious violation, it can cost you your spot in a program, all because of something you could’ve avoided by starting earlier.

Contributing to a meaningful project sets you apart and gives you the confidence to walk into any interview and speak proudly:

“Yes, I worked on this research. I had a task in it. And I’m ready to discuss it with any senior or consultant.”

And there’s no better feeling than receiving a publication acceptance (knowing deep down that you stayed within what’s right, worked hard, and with Allah’s guidance, your research was published)

On the other hand, if your name is added to a ready-made paper just because you paid, then even if someone else did the same before and things seemed to go smoothly, remember — that was Allah’s cover and mercy for them.

You can’t guarantee the same outcome.

Graduate programs are now fully aware of these practices.

Ads like “Selling authorship spots” and “Just need a few more names to complete the list” are everywhere.

It’s almost like you’ll start seeing them at traffic lights!
