The Importance of Setting Deadlines in Dental Research

Is the deadline really that important?

Deadlines in research aren’t meant to add pressure. From our perspective, they’re truly the foundation for organizing any project.

Without exaggeration, one out of every two authors who joined us had already tried forming a research group. And once they started working, they discovered that many group members were either too busy or simply not ready to commit. There’s always a desire to publish, but the excuses never end.

That’s exactly why deadlines are set for every stage of the research process.

And only the authors who stick to the deadlines (or let us know in advance if they’ll be late and propose a new timeline) are the ones we continue offering future research opportunities to.

On top of that, the research ideas we develop are innovative, fresh, and trendy. They require quick execution, which makes having a deadline absolutely crucial. The faster we complete the work, the better chance we have at being among the first to publish on that topic (and that’s a big advantage by the way)

Of course, it’s totally understandable if something comes up and the author needs extra time. We all go through unexpected situations, and sometimes life doesn’t go as planned. That’s why we allow extensions of deadlines upon request, to protect everyone’s interest and maintain the research timeline as much as possible.

There are two phrases we always repeat:

Any research without proper organization and task distribution = most likely won’t be completed.

If every step in the research doesn’t have a deadline = the project will probably never be finished.

May Allah bless us and you with barakah in our time, sincerity in our work, and acceptance in both this life and the hereafter.
